My opinions on the Day of Silence
Published on April 22, 2008 By erathoniel In Current Events

Why does everyone need a day to victimize themselves for their own choices?

It seems like if you don't believe there's anything wrong with what you're doing, you don't need a day to mourn your victimization. Get over yourselves. You choose something, you can live with it. I support non-harassment, sure, but I do not believe that it is anyone's right to declare themselves special for their victimization.

When I am persecuted for the name of Christ who I stand for (poor representative I am), I am not ashamed, but I count it all as gain.

You must be referring to the April 25th, Day of Silence, organized by GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network, one of the most militant, well funded and powerful homosexual pressure groups out there.

The Day of Silence (DOS) has been held in my area for a few years now.  It's really all about pro-homosexual indoctrination of our children. Students and teachers are encouraged to refuse to speak in a show of support for self-described homosexual or transgendered students.

Our schools are supposed to be places of learning.....not places where they are encouraging young kids to engage in sex that killls?

Sounds like some are trying to push us back to the dark ages.

If there is a stupider way to demand an awareness of an issue, I have not found it yet. But then genius is limited, stupidity is boundless.

And, more, they go for one minority less persecuted than others. How many people have been shot for homosexuality?

12 were killed for Christianity in a school on one day.

When I was in school we were identified according to our gender...as male or female....today they encourage kids to identify themselves according to their "perceived sexuality! See how they slickly they maneuver sexual behavior into identity?

Autoerotic asphyxiation?

Actually, one thing about it is, shouldn't sexual preferences... heck, sex in general, be an unspoken taboo?

Do you really need to talk to everyone on the street about it?

Yes, I think so...especially with school age kids. Sex talk should be strictly left up to the parents....but ever since the sexual revolution in the 60s, prayer and God is OUT and teaching about sex is IN. The secularist worldlings won't have it any other way.

For a sampling of the kinds of things GlSEN teaches children, click here and be warned, it's graphic.

What happened to your other article on the Day of Silence?

Could you please link to a news report or other evidence of a 12 CHRISTIAN school children being murdered in school FOR being Christian? I have no idea what incident you're talking about.
on Apr 23, 2008

I am talking about, of course, Columbine.

Look it up.

Wrong. Try again.

on Apr 23, 2008

Well, at least one of them was shot specifically for it, so that would mean that all could have been shot for that reason.

Also, who does these shootings? Not people raised in Christianity, your precious secular group.

Witch burnings, the Crusades, the Inquisition...nope, good God fearing Christians don't hurt anyone at all.

How old were you when Columbine happened? Do you even remember how/what went down?

Read up about it from news reports and then get back to me.

I'm not sure what this sentence even means. Christianity = my precious secular group? HUH?

Christians do indeed commit murders. I would have to do some digging to prove it but I would guess that at least a few of the recent school shooters have backgrounds of being raised in the Christian faith.

Regardless, the point is Christians in America are not being murdered for Christianity's sake. Christianity is a majority religion in America, and school children are generally NOT persecuted or harmed because of their faith of choice in schools.

Further, if they were, and even if they're not, feel free to start your own Day of Silence equivalent to highlight injustices and cruelties. Don't be jealous.

You are way off the mark here.

I shared important info regarding the Day of Silence on your other thread.

The National Day of Silence serves to "bring(s) attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools."

As a Christian, you should be on board with this cause. Christ did not engage in bullying and harassment, but instead promoted love and inclusion of those society would shun or abuse. I can give you Scriptures for this if you need them.

"This year’s event will be held in memory of Lawrence King, a California 8th-grader who was shot and killed Feb. 12 by a classmate because of his sexual orientation and gender expression."

Again, how could you, as a loving Christian person, have a problem with this? Regardless of your stance on homosexuality, surely you do not support the murder of homosexuals!

This is an optional cause. Children who feel motivated to do so can participate. Those who don't feel motivated to participate don't even have to opt out. It's not mandatory or any sort of school requirement.

Do you really begrudge another human being humane treatment just because they do not live as you do? You are also a sinner, and your sins are equivalent to those of any homosexual, according to Christian belief. The blood of Christ, again, according to Christian belief, is your only salvation.

I am just befuddled by so many Christians who spend so much time bashing homosexuals. In what way is that constructive? Again I will ask you...what would Jesus do? Do you believe he would be outraged at high school kids taking the initiative to stand against murder and maltreatment of their peers?

GAAH! Typos abound.

Second off, no, but I am willing to take being called names, why should I not protest about state adoption of promotion of a sin.

Zoo, what you said with sarcasm was actually 100% correct. The Crusades, witch burning, the Inquisition, all of those were fundamentally flawed, and just an excuse for the primitive warlike European barbarians to express themselves. They just justified it through the church, incorrectly.

on Apr 23, 2008

Ah, double posting because of the "Auth. Error".

Does sexual orientation have any place in the public sphere anyways? Other than politics and religion? No. So you don't need to walk around blatantly saying "I like others of my same gender group", you don't have to say anything. Sure, you can, but you don't have to.

It's not like you don't have a choice of sexual orientation. I believe all that "You're born that way" stuff is crap.

If you can't take the heat, just take a vow of celibacy.
