Blogging is one of my major activities (with about four articles per day at the time of writing, haven taken only one day off for just over a week) that I enjoy. There are a couple things you need to know about blogging before you start.
- Blogging is not for everyone. You need to be able to take criticism.
- You can write about anything, but beware politics and religion unless you want a hard fight.
- It helps to have some people you know agree with you frequent your articles.
- It helps to cover a lot of topics, so that you come off as a well-rounded bigot.
- It helps never to smear, and always write positively if you want a good debate and no flaming.
- The above rule does not apply to political blogging, where the contrary is true.
- The above rule only applies on occasion.
- You need to know decent grammar, even if you don't use great writing.
- Capitalize correctly in articles.
- Unless the purpose of the article can be stated shortly, make as long an article as possible.
- Be open for debate. Allow comments.
- Flag articles as adult only if the content is explicit, not if the topics discussed are distasteful. This lets readers know an article has objectional content, rather than simply covering a taboo topic.
- Don't use smilies. They are like a plague. You can use them in comments, but try to avoid them.
You can make suggestions if you want.
