How I will start deleting comments
Published on April 22, 2008 By erathoniel In Blogging

I will start deleting comments, but I will do the following:

I will not blacklist people, merely delete comments, and I will note that the comments were deleted.

    Here's how to avoid deletion:

    Do not swear.

Do not use explicit language, or more crude innuendo.

Do not just talk, make your comments useful. (For this rule I may not note comment deletion, to prevent landslides).

    This list may be updated.

Comments disabled. On the bright side, I got a lot quick, which has to help my ratings. Don't read past page 1.

By swear, I mean bad swearing, to clarify. You can say mild stuff, just not too much, to avoid deletion. You can also use work-arounds and placeholders. Or you can censor the entire word. Not just one or three letters, the whole word, to let people know you wanna swear, but I'd delete it.

Well, there goes half my talking points.

I can live with your rules.

on Apr 22, 2008

I put them down as to be unrestrictive to thought, but restrictive to that which could be detrimental.

@ Zoo: I would think the last rule would hurt you more.

My comments are action packed with content. I'm not quite sure what you mean by useful. Care to expound upon that?

Aw, man. You mean like this post?

The difference being that I allow it on this article, yes.

Just use lizard names, Zoo.

SanChonino, comment deleted. It's early morning for me. Write simply. And I feel like a jerk today.

That's a gila monster of an idea. Not swearing is a pain in the chuckwalla. I guess getting my thorny devil point across with lizard names could do the trick. Well blue tailed skink, I'd better go and study my bearded dragon chemistry.

In other words just comments that agree with what you say or comments you agree with. No opposing viewpoints?

A little piece of advice. You start deleting comments pretty soon you'll find your articles have NO comments. Nobody is going to want to leave a comment if you're going to erase it because you can't handle it.

I hope that's relevant to the topic.

on Apr 23, 2008

Nope, opposing viewpoints are a good thing. Flaming is allowed so long as it's not just "YOUR WRONG1!!"

I try only to delete comments with offensive or provocative (and I mean directly provoking an assault) content.
