Listen to Erathoniel ranting on and on in good ol' conservative Christian fashion.
It's a narrow path that leadeth away from Temptation and Damnation
Published on May 2, 2008 By erathoniel In Religion

I believe, quite simply, that there is one way to Heaven, and it is a simple one. Unconditional belief in Jesus Christ (God incarnate) as one's Savior, with no others. One is not saved by deeds, but through faith, that none may boast. I also believe that there is damnation for those who profess that Jesus Christ is not the only way to Heaven. It might appear selfish to an outsider, but I believe that God made the universe, therefore He has given us one chance of salvation, and if we choose to refuse Him and His Son, he will give us what we eternally desire. An eternity in Hell.

Maybe I'm being being picky with words but, by using "therefore", you are somehow implying that God's creation of the universe somehow requires or implies only one way to be "saved". If your God did create the universe, it must be noticed that he didn't just create Black&White, Light&Dark, he created Red, Green, Blue, Orange, more colors than we can name. Aside from an old book, what makes you think he would create only one path to him? How does this creation even imply there is a path to salvation at all? Just because you create a garden doesn't mean you care about the insects living in it. Heck, you'll probably want to exterminate a lot of them.

...if we choose to refuse Him and His Son, he will give us what we eternally desire. An eternity in Hell.

What is your definition of damnation/hell anyway? I've heard some say "fire", some "ice", some just the absence of God, what say you? Personally, I think that if it is just the absence of God then that is just fine, its really just saying "you don't have to hang out with me if you don't like me"; but is kinda funny how it seems to lose the threat of impending doom and eternal suffering then.

Absence of God and extreme physical torture. I believe that like Heaven, Hell is also custom tailored. In a bad way.

Wow, the god you believe in sure is a prick. Are you the type the believes your god choses to reveal himself to some people and not others?

(Side note: You probably might not get a reply from me until Monday, I try to take a break from the internet on the weekends.)

That's the problem with some of you fundies - your obsession with the flesh at the expense of faith. If you're Christian you probably believe that it's your soul that's immortal. Right?

So how can 'extreme physical torture' be inflicted on an entity that has no physical form?

Some of them believe in a literally physical resurrection during the end times, and that those that go to heaven will do so with their (idealized) physical bodies.

Damnation is what happens when the whole world turns a blind eye to reason in favor of belief.

The only way to salvation is through our Lord, the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

cscoles, most of what you say is crap. Or totally true when pointed at you.

On physical torture, I do not believe in a true physical body, but rather a metaphysical one, with similar properties, just perfect. So in essense, it's the same as physical torture, but worse due to its ability to never kill.

Well, you would expect my ideas to be true from my perspective...

I meant that your "Damnation is what happens when the whole world turns a blind eye to reason in favor of belief." comment. It works both ways.

It really doesn't.

We haven't tried it both ways, Era.

You're right, it only goes your way, for Damnation only occurs when one cannot believe that they are mortal or important.
