Listen to Erathoniel ranting on and on in good ol' conservative Christian fashion.

I struggled with pornography for a long time. It was something I hated, and something I wished it was near-impossible to find. But just how hard is it to find porn?

Not. Despite the fact that it should be behind an age-gate, many sources of porn run it behind no protection, or minimal. One site is incompatible with firefox, so porn can be accessed without any age-verification.

And age verification? "Are you 18?". That's all. There are a few sites I've visited with full age-gates, but about eighty percent of those I ever went to had no separate age gate or even a visible age-verification system in Firefox.

And how hard is it to accidentally access porn? In a week, I got 2 porn links disguised as normal links, and I got ads for material without soliciting them while browsing on otherwise clean sites.

Filters work about ninety percent of the time, but some pornography does not use names or keywords familiar to filter software, and adding in the lingo for every type of porn is nearly impossible. And filters can often be disabled or worked around, so they may not even be effective.

So, I ask you, do we need a reform in the internet porn? I believe very strongly that we do. It exists, it's practically marketed to minors, and it is addictive and shameful. It causes emotional and psychological damage, and is a pox upon the sight of humanity.

Can you just name or post links to your so called "clean sites"?

Off the first yahoo hit for music, I got a blog, and a link from a comment did not lead to the advertised music site.

And I can tell you, after a year or two I was only for the porn, I didn't care about sex. Just porn. Not women, just porn.

I was an early bloomer and I lusted after women long before I ever saw porn

So did I. I just never wanted anything other than a quick... relationship, no comittment.

The next question would be... Do you still masterbate?

Nope. Quit that after quitting porn right away. It was the main problem.

I was never forbidden from watching porn. I never knew what it was until after I'd watched it. It was just something I learned about from experience.

The above post reminded me of the old adage that there are three ways to get something done - do it yourself, pay someone else to do it, or forbid your children to do it

I never heard that one before.  It's good.  I like it!

At the risk of sounding like a caricature of a psychiatrist, how is your relationship with your mother?  I think there's a lot more at play here than just a young boy's experiment with internet porn.

It's all somene else's fault.

Ain't it always?

It's all somene else's fault.

People will never learn that blaming someone else is just living in denial and furthers your troubles. Take responsibility for yourself and let everyone else screw up as they please.

I can't be trusted to do something so let's keep everyone from doing it.

You may want to rethink that. Unless you're having sex regularly - as in three times a week or so - you're greatly increasing your risk of prostate cancer by abstaining from masturbation. It's perfectly healthy, in moderation.

Are you thinking Oedipus? I wouldn't be surprised.

I can't be trusted to do something so let's keep everyone from doing it.

Now where did I hear that some place before? Oh sounds like politics that's it...

Pretty good there Night Train.

Oh and think about all this too! Wow how many kids are here on this forum? Just wondering...

But as everyone see's it for the good old best of times. We don't really care. But that is beside the point.

The man wants law enforcement for the internet. Well believe me there is a lot of that hard at work today. Politicians and so called good guys are arrested on almost a daily basis for PORN and/or other related internet illegal activities. Thus you say there is no law enforcement... believe me there is. And as the President elect would have it his way soon... he can pull the plug on the whole dang net at his idea of something some would think is a risk to national security.

People are always defining the way things are for whatever their reasons are. With only their ideas and thoughts to consider. Beleieve me when I say there is a bigger picture to the whole thing. Porn is just something you buy a firewall for and use at your home computer to block such stuff. So as your kids don't see things. But you can not stop things that people want... they will do what they have to do to get whatever it is. It happens everyday... someone will do what it takes to get what they want and who cares about whatever the laws are. Laws are broken constantly - even by the law makers that make them. The whole of the whole is this... Take care of your own and watch out for yourself and hope the rest gets out of your way. If it does not then figure away around it. People do me that way on the hiway constantly. Almost running me and everyone else in their way over. So who are we to try and stop them?

I could go on with this but the thing that matter the most is you! Not what the rest of the world does. Take care of yourself and those close to you. Look out for the other guy and be happy. Letting the world throw it's punches at you and feeling them hurts you and those around you. So duck that punch and hit em hard when they don't see it coming and stop sitting there taking another blow by blow till you go down hard. Get even with yourself and those things around you to be at ease with all of it.

Stop the porn - bye a good firewall and take charge of what is on your internet! It is your place in the world too. The law will do what it can do and you do what you need to do and hope for the best. Hope meaning your on the front keeping it all where you want it to be - not where it wants to be.

Anyway good luck with your problem and there are people trying their best to do what you want. You are not alone!

Wow....any excuse....

What happened to the old one...."if you don't use it it'll wither up and fall off"?

Not too shabby. Other than keeping the secret, since I'm not sure how she'd take it, and I don't want to hurt her. It's nothing sexual, no.

The man wants law enforcement for the internet.

Actually, I want webmasters to follow the damn rules already.

Stop the porn - bye a good firewall and take charge of what is on your internet!

Actually, the best filter I used was free. The firewalls actually don't help that much, because the ones I use require URL by URL blocking, and that would've taken too long.

What rules are we talking about?

Porn is legal here, therefore there is a choice to look, or not to look. That is up to the individual. What we don't want is some do-gooder imposing their prudish views on everyone else.

Mind your own business!

So you CAN relate to at least one female without viewing them as an object?  Can you not see that she has the same physiology as the "things" you see in porn?  And yet you know that inside that physiology is a person, a mind, a heart, and a psyche that you don't want to hurt.  Hmmmm....I think you just need to start thinking about what's going on when you want to turn to porn.  In the AA Big Book, alcoholics in recovery are asked to think about what they're really feeling when they want to turn to a drink....and use the acronym HALT (hungry, angry, lonely, tired) and find more appropriate means to alleviate those needs.

I'm also curious...where was your mother when you were 8-12 and looking at porn?    I'm not judging her -- I was aware when my children were looking at porn; we all rebelled together. They were in their teens, and I was in my late 30s, freshly divorced from a controlling man I had been married to for 16 years, and I had lost my faith in my religion, so there was no reason, in my mind, to not indulge, in all sorts of vices--and that grew old and we moved on.  I'm curious as to why some, like my family, were able to move on, and some, like yourself, got stuck.

Business creates the rules via slight of hand. If the rule costs a business $ then you can be certain they are trying to change that rule.

Greed conquers all.... even love.
