Not too long ago I donated blood. I sat down and immediately wished that I'd drank some more water before, due to a salty-dry taste in my mouth (from eating fast food crap right before, none less). The pain was relatively minor. I've had IV's and shots before, and it felt just like an IV. This means that it wasn't too bad, but not something I'd do for fun. It took about ten minutes by my reckoning (Probably 5). It was my first time donating, but I didn't feel too bad. Until about four hours when...

Angels and Demons is a violent film. And I'm not just referring to the shoot and kill, either. With the one exception of romance, there is every type of passion in this film, and plenty of it. Emotion, intellect, and brute force come together to make one great movie experience. Some good things in Angels and Demons were practically everything. Wonderful quality and presentation mix to bring an enthralling, engaging experience. The special effects and light science-fiction feel at some points ...

There are a few steps to making a webcomic: Get Hosting: I personally recommend ComicFury (www.comicfury.com), as it requires little ID and is the lightest in hosting restrictions I've found. Get Tools: Do not pirate/use educational versions of Photoshop or Illustrator (or any other commercial product) to draw a webcomic. If you make any money off of it, you can be in trouble. Use GIMP, Inkscape, or another free program (I just listed my two favorites), since there are so many. If you wa...

Okay, so I'm writing again. It's been a little while since I've written a theology piece, but I've been playing some Dwarf Fortress (which means I get a lot of idle brainpower time), so I've prepared an article on "Feelgood Faith" Imagine that there is a town named Feelgood. In this town people only do things when they want to. It's in a decent climate, and people don't complain that much. However, they find that there is a dearth of exciting new innovations coming out of their town, perhaps ...

I struggled with pornography for a long time. It was something I hated, and something I wished it was near-impossible to find. But just how hard is it to find porn? Not. Despite the fact that it should be behind an age-gate, many sources of porn run it behind no protection, or minimal. One site is incompatible with firefox, so porn can be accessed without any age-verification. And age verification? "Are you 18?". That's all. There are a few sites I've visited with full age-gates, but about...

Napolitano's done it again. I mean, with Biden, how can she look bad? To tell you the truth, in Arizona under her governing, everything went in the craphole, and now she's homeland security chief? She's called a fair deal of normal people "extremists", even going so far as to accuse them of racism. She doesn't seem to have huge amounts of legal experience, and she knocks Sheriff Joe, who is earnestly trying, unlike she is. She doesn't even seem to care about getting her facts straight. And th...

So I'm back on JoeUser. I've kicked my porn addiction (Four years later, no longer using a filter, no longer needing to watch), stopped playing so many video games (not quite so happily, but necessary), and run a daily webcomic (for a couple months, then I lost inspiration/ideas and my comp. died), and started a new weekly one.   I'd also like to apologize. I've been snarky and rude, and all the things I never wanted to be in the past, not because I truly wanted you to hurt, but becau...

Introducing the CountryBoat      Imagine a huge ship, powered by solar energy, with greenhouses and fishing. Together, we can flee the nation before the nukes hit. One contribution of $100,000 can secure you eight slots on this ship. Sure, we may not have an experienced leader, but neither does America. This modern day Noah's Ark (without animals, save pets [please spay/neuter animals])will be launched when the first signs of crapper-jumping are here, and should carry enoug...

I believe the diagram speaks for itself. Basically, a vote for Obama is a vote to hurt the poor. Not to mention a vote for a man who can't even realize the consequences of his decisions.

I can buy Spore after-all. Since it's the game making me boycott EA, and Will Wright makes it, and Will Wright donates to McCain, I can agree with Will Wright's politics. Will Wright, ergo, deserves my cash as much as any other developer, and I will give money to Will Wright by buying Spore. Even if I can't run it. Meh. Make it for DS/360, and I'll buy it.

Dwarf Fortress is probably the most complex game as of 2008, and it's definitely the most complex ASCII game. Okay, I kid you not, the Wiki is probably way over 200 MB, and doesn't have many pictures (and if it does, they aren't huge BMP's). It's huge. There's so much stuff in it. You can build most anything that comes to mind. And it's updated often. It's easy to mod. I've done it. You can get a lot of cool things. And you can remove the innate alcohol dependency of the dwarves, if you n...

What is the difference between passing judgement or warning someone? For instance, let me present the black and white examples:     Judgement: Because you took a wrong turn, you fell off a cliff.     Warning: If you take the wrong turn, you will fall off a cliff.     In my opinion, judgement should never be necessary, instead a warning will suffice.     In ethical terms, this means that you should warn peopl...

When making a RPG, one common flaw is that the developers never seem to play the game. This is attested to by the awful methods of transportation in some RPG's on the market today. I'll give examples of good/bad games, then examples of good/bad systems. Good Games- Oblivion: Quick travel and mounts, though the mounts are more just annoying, as well as potential level-up speed increases. Morrowind: Level-up speed increases, freeform traveling (Flight from Seyda Neen to Balmora, now depar...

Shadowrun: Infected"I still wonder when the medicine will take its effect. And the injection they made, it's all just left me the same. It's hard to concentrate with echoes of your voice in my head. From all you said, I'm still paralyzed. But I'm almost out of breath from saying things that I'll regret. My time is over, I can't do this alone.I'm infected with you, pull the plug already.Tell me before I go, that your infected with me." - Demon Hunter I haven't fed in days.
